Diary 23/10/2018 - Don't believe anything until you have reasons to do so
The afternoon of today, just like others afternoon, I started to learn. After one hour, I felt a little tired, so I decided to surf Facebook. By accident, I read an article which was shared within a group on Facebook. After finished reading this article, I totally believed that the author of that article was right and everything was written by him was also right. That was my mistake. In the article, the author didn't provide enough pieces of evidence and his argument was not valid. He just wrote what he thought and the evidence provided by him was not strong enough. Why did I agree with the author about issues of the article? Because I did have a prejudge, I did have the same opinion with him. I have believed that the issues in the article are right before I read this article. I can't forgive myself for believing such a thing when I don't have any reasons to do so. My problem is not simple, because I have learned argument and have finished reading a book whose whole content about critical thinking. I forgot what I have learned and can't apply it to reality. I think that I must reexamine all of my beliefs or prejudges and must be careful when reading anything on the internet.
That was a lesson, it is not new, but all of us are wrong sometimes. When you read anything on the internet, you must check who wrote that article, what arguments are given by this article, what evidences are provided, how the author argues and the arguments are whether valid or not... Sounds simple, right?
I hope that Socrates, Aristotle... will forgive me for my mistake.
