There are too many people choose wealth to measure success
In my country, Vietnam, the teacher is a noble job. This is our cultural, people respect and regard teachers because they teach children who are the future of the country. We also have a day in a year to honor merit of the teacher. But all of those beautiful things were history. Recently years, teachers (not all) is not like before anymore, they force their students to participate in extra time class so they can get more money. If a student doesn't go to that class, this student will get in trouble. I feel sad when I heard that story. The purpose of the teacher is to educate children to help them become a good person, so the success metric of the teacher is the number of students who are helped by them. I think the joy of the teacher is to see their student grow day by day. It is just simple like that.
Let talk about the doctor, I want to mention the doctor who works in a public hospital. They often feel that they don't have enough money so they open their own clinic to get more money. Yeah, that's good except one thing - they treat the patients in the public hospital very bad. When a patient comes to the public hospital, the doctor examined the patient's health carelessly. I think it not humanitarian because most of the patients who come to the public hospital are poor, they don't have much money but their body is not healthy, they need help from the doctor but the doctor only care about money. I think to make more money is not wrong, but it wrong when the doctor doesn't pay attention to the patients on the public hospital to focus on the customers who use the services of his clinic. And the success metric of a doctor is definitely the number of patients was helped by him, every doctor all takes the Hippocratic Oath.
I think this world is encouraging everyone to enrich and forget their own meaning. My opinion is simple, just dedicated to life and life will never mistreat you.
